Back in 1979, I saw David Bromberg play in this cool small nightclub in Barrington Vt. He opened with an acoustic set and there was this guy just jabbering away to his friends. In the middle of Mr Blue, Bromberg walked to the edge of the stage, still playing the song, and asked security to escort the guy out. It was a great moment.

Another time, in 1996 or so, I saw Peter Himmelman at the Double Diamond in Aspen. He was so distracted by people talking that in the middle of the show he announced that he was going to leave and play at the base of Aspen Mtn. He proceeded to leave and we followed him to the mountain where he played the rest of his show outside. It reminded me of the Pied Piper story. Another memorable moment.

In '97 I went to see comedy group The Firesign Theatre on what turned out to be their final tour. Comedy isn't nearly as loud as music, so they were especially vulnerable to a guy in the front row who brought a little silver bell, which he kept ringing incessantly, DURING the skits, as well as for applause. I know they were trying to record the show for an album, and for sure the bell would have ruined it. They even got the guy on stage and involved him in a skit, just to try and placate him (since he obviously thought the whole show was about HIM anyway), but as soon as he sat back down, he was ringing away again. I will never understand such selfishness, ever.

On the positive side, there is one essential AUD of the GD, the one from Jerry's post-coma 'return' show (Oakland Coliseum, 12/15/86). When the band opens with "Touch Of Grey" and Jerry gets to the first, "I Will Survive" line, the outburst from the audience will make you cry. And you really need the AUD to get the full idea. It might be the most emotional moment of any GD concert, ever...

I was up front on jerry's side at the Greeks on Sunday. About 10 feet from the stage, think jerry was dew Althea or Peggy.. and I was singing along, then some chick threatened to call security on me.... lol, I just keep singing to piss her off after the threat. As she went for security or to find another spot to secretly record, I followed her. As she stared my down in discuss... I walked backstage a grabbed a Pepsi.
